Sarita Miller

Sarita Miller is a Chapter Development Intern for Public Health Beyond Borders, Inc. and an India Project Leader for the University of Maryland (UMD) PHBB chapter. Sarita's interest for public health sparked during her time in the Global Public Health Scholars Program in College Park. Sarita is a junior studying Neurobiology & Physiology at UMD. Sarita saw PHBB as an opportunity to practice public health in the real world and to strengthen invaluable skills such as cultural competency. She is currently working with Dr. Elisabeth Maring and Dr. Madhu Kushwaha on research surrounding menstruation and decolonizing public health education. Sarita will be a TA for the global classroom "Teaching Menstrual Health: Dispelling Myths and Misconceptions" in Spring 2022 with students from Banaras Hindu University and UMD. Sarita often volunteers for the Medical Reserve Corps of PG County as a Spanish-English interpreter at COVID vaccination and testing sites. Sarita aspires to study public health and medicine after her time as an undergraduate at UMD. Sarita plans on becoming a health professional for underserved communities.
